Women's Soccer Posts a Double Loss at North Country Invitational
CLARKSON, NY – The Lady Wildcats hit the road this weekend to take on Clarkson University and St. Lawrence University at the North Country Invitational hosted by Clarkson U.
In Friday's matchup against Clarkson, the Golden Knights celebrated a 3-0 victory over the Wildcats at Hantz Turf Field.
Junior Linda Zajac (Cicero, NY) had the first goal just over five minutes into the match. Early in the second half, senior Alix Petitti (Amsterdam, NY) knocked in the second goal with sophomore Marissa Cook (Chateaugay, NY) solidifying the win for the Green and Gold after scoring the third goal with fifteen minutes left in the game.
Clarkson's goalie, freshman Brianna Thibeau (Slamen, NY) posted her first shutout of her college career.
Between the pipes for the Lady Wildcats, Aubrey Campbell (Auburn, NY/Auburn) and Margaret Wereczak (Mohawk, NY/Mohawk ), compiling fourteen saves between the two.
On Saturday, the second day of the tournament, SUNYIT suffered an 8-0 defeat against St. Lawrence University.
The Saints took an early lead over the 'Cats, with sophomore Julia Friesen (Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON) scoring just 4:32 into the game. Shortly thereafter, the Saints took the game and never looked back with seven different players scoring.
All three SUNYIT goalkeepers shared time in the net this afternoon. Sophomore Margaret Werenczak (Mohawk, N.Y./Mohawk), sophomore Aubrey Campbell (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn), and freshman Francesca Palladino (Boonville, N.Y./Adirondack ) stopped fifteen shots on the day.

SUNYIT travels to Utica, NY to take on area rival Utica College Wednesday night, Sept. 7th. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 pm start.
